Chapter 16
Washington, DC
Kamala Harris and Tedra Cobb, Acting President and Acting Vice President, found themselves alone in the Oval Office, a fairly rare event these days now that they had restored the agencies and there was a new Cabinet to help keep them informed, to recommend policies, and help generate new laws.
Kamala was speaking. “I heard that word has gotten out that Trump is at Guantánamo.”
“Yes, I heard that too. I’ve been expecting fallout for a while now,” said Tedra.
“I think there may be some kind of plot afoot, although I have no proof,” said Kamala. “A report came in from the FBI. They have been keeping a watch at Trump Towers. Don Jr, Eric, Flynn, Stone, Manafort, and all the people on this list have been seen entering Trump Towers at least two times recently. They weren’t there for long, but it was obviously some kind of a meeting. What else but the news about their good pal Donald could it have been about.”
“Well, I suppose it could have been about Russia and Putin, since I understand the oldest guys, with Russian connections have been staying in touch. But I’m with you. I think it’s about Trump,” Tedra said.
“The FBI also made note that Jim Jordan and Josh Hawley had traveled to Texas to consult with Ted Cruz. They are birds of a feather, but why are they flocking together? Ted Cruz then went to Abilene, although he managed to lose the FBI, so no one knows what he did there, or who he met,” Kamala added.
“My guess is that this group of Trump loyalists is planning something and we need to find out what it is,” said the President, “I do not want Trump back on American soil. I want him to stay right where he is.”
“Well, Madame Commander in Chief,” the VP said with a slight smile, “aren’t we lucky. We have the entire US Armed Forces at our disposal. Let’s call some Generals and maybe even some Admirals to the Situation Room.”
“Make a list,” the President said, “and then give it to someone who can make it happen. Please.”
“Consider it done,” said the VP.
