Chapter 19
In the Bunker
‘Rocky’ had been on duty when everyone arrived. He had already been told not to react. He just didn’t understand why they weren’t rounding these guys up. Now ‘Old Man’ was due for his shift and ‘Rocky’ was dying to talk to him to see what he knew and to see if he was also mystified. But ‘Old Man’ did not arrive alone. ‘Swimmer’, and ‘Rockefeller’ came along with Colonel Masters. So, it looked like information would be forthcoming and perhaps new orders.
When they were settled, Masters told them that the new President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris had sent an order telling them to ‘stand down’ until further notice, ‘do not engage.’ Masters had some problems with this and they were all about logistics. Having 26 more people in a closed off compound usually supplied in early morning hours when everyone was asleep would take some ingenuity. How would they feed all these additional people? How would the food get delivered? The base had decided on daily food drops onto the helipad. But all supplies would then have to be carried into the billets. There was a small kitchen in each of the barracks plus the ones at the pool house and golf club. Each group would have to figure out how to make their own meals. Masters did not think that Melania and Ivanka were going to cook for all these people. This would be very expensive.
“Right now we will use those militia people as our delivery system. I’m sure that they will be given orders to distribute supplies and keep every pantry, kitchen, and refrigerator throughout the compound stocked,” Masters continued. “But orders say that we are to spirit militia members away one or two at a time and they will be sent to the terrorist lockup at Guantánamo Detention Center. After all they are domestic terrorists. Whoever has the duty at 0300 will oversee the snatches, bring those arrested to this bunker and then ship them through the tunnel to the base. I haven’t figured out who will replace these guys when it comes to delivery duties and how long we are supposed to stay covert so, wait for my signal before we begin.
“If we have to address these men over the loud speaker, what should we call them,” asked ‘Old Man.’
“Let’s use the name Oath Keepers, to remind them that they are not actual soldiers,” said Masters. “First food drop tomorrow, 0600 at helipad. Be careful. These guys are armed and might try to commandeer the drop copter. Whoever talks to them tell them that if they bring guns, no food for anyone. I’ll keep the information flowing as things develop.
