I love to read. When I have a Kindle that works, or, indeed, a Nook that works, I am happy to pay authors for the hours they spend writing. But I am not buying any more of these readers because they only work for a short time and then they will not reboot.
The readers look. perfect, they even light up, but they will not go beyond the opening screen.
Is this planned obsolescence? Is technology outpacing eReader technology? Is it a problem of the G’s (as in 4G, 5G, etc.) or a problem of the G’s ($$$)?
I will not buy anymore books from Amazon since I can only read them on my iPhone’s tiny screen, which works reliably and is very easy to read but very small. I love those big screens on Kindles and Nooks but I cannot afford to keep throwing my money away on bad tech.
I have returned to borrowing books from my local library, but authors should get mad about this because when I go to the library they don’t get paid.
My newest Kindle is the one that is lit up. It lights up but does not reboot. Sellers like Amazon deliberately make it difficult for consumers to contact them. They ask for product reviews before you even have a chance to test out a product.
I am told that if I invest in an iPad it will be a real reading workhorse but five times bitten makes me nervous to go for it.

Thanks for the warning, Nancy. I have hundreds of books. Too many for the space I'm now in. Guess I'd better find more room for shelving and get the book cartons off the floor. Library nearby will have to "do" for newer reading. Not to worry about the authors.. They like the exposure and I've a feeling they have publishing contracts that protect their interests Hmmmm, there's a story idea. I'm years out of touch with publishing info. Sigh.
