You might remember when I wrote to my Representative in the US House of Representatives asking them to not abandon Ukraine. I also sent a postcard to one of my state Senators, Charles Schumer. Both wrote letters in response to my postcards. However, their responses are hardly the same.
Here is the crux of Rep. Williams's response to my concerns about Ukraine:
"Funding for Ukraine, as with all of our allies, should be subject to accountability. In order to achieve our goals in supporting Ukraine, we must know where the funds are going, and what they are being used for. Similarly, we must ensure that such funding does not hinder or obstruct efforts here in the United States to address domestic problems, like the border crisis that has already created problems for Central New Yorkers."
You can probably guess that Brandon Williams is MAGA, although he doesn't reveal that until the second to the last paragraph. Since he is one of the extremists in the House he wants to cut domestic programs. It is also disingenuous to suggest that Central New York is a hotbed of problems brought on by immigration.
Here’s how Brandon Williams voted on key bills since he entered Congress:

A new report in E&E News exposes House Republicans for lambasting the CHIPS and Science Act, then celebrating it after it delivered billions of dollars in investment to their communities.
The report highlights vulnerable members Rep. María Elvira Salazar, who voted against the bill, and Rep. Brandon Williams, who called the bill a “corporate welfare package” on the campaign trail, for falsely playing up their contributions to the funding.
The House passed the Inflation Reduction Act, broadly popular legislation that will lower the cost of prescription drugs, health insurance, and everyday energy costs — all while reducing the deficit and carbon emissions, by making the wealthiest corporations finally pay their fair share.
Despite Americans supporting every component of this bill, Republicans chose politics and voted against legislation that will benefit American families. We know Brandon Williams spewed false GOP talking points about this bill. Would Steve Wells have voted with his Washington bosses as well?
Disclaimer: My sources for these facts will be suspect to MAGAs, but these votes are recorded in the Congressional Record.
Here's a copy of the very simple message I sent to Congress:
Now, here is the response from my Senator, Charles Schumer (D, NY):
Senator Schumer is not MAGA. He still advocates for government that works. Write to Congress when you care about a piece of legislation. And vote!
